PEG, Franchising, and Legislative Opportunities
As we have seen traditional funding for public, educational, and governmental (PEG) access television funding decline across the country, we have seen access centers shutter. To address this declining funding, local governments and access centers are examining new options to ensure PEG remains essential and viable for the next 40 years. Join us for a robust discussion by our experienced local government & PEG advocates as they explore state legislative initiatives across the country and the historic benefits of franchising and its relevance by looking at broadband, revenue and the public protections franchising offers. This conversation is an excellent opportunity for communities, PEG centers and chapters looking to explore local and state legislative efforts to save PEG and pursue revenue.
Moderator: Mike Lynch, Legislative Director, NATOA
Speakers: Mike Bradley, Bradley Werner LLC; Mike Wassenaar, Alliance for Community Media; Daniel Lightfoot, League of Minnesota Cities
