Alan Shark

Dr. Alan R. Shark is the Executive Director of the Public Technology Institute (PTI) and is a practitioner-scholar and Associate Professor for the Schar School of Policy and Government, George Mason University. Additionally, he is an affiliate faculty member at the Center for Advancing Human-Machine Partnership (CAHMP). Shark is a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, and Co-Chair of the Standing Panel on Technology Leadership, and executive committee member of ASPA’s Section on Science and Technology. He has over 12 book titles bearing his name, including his latest book, Artificial Intelligence – A Primer for State and Local Government, and the textbook Technology and Public Management, second edition. Shark writes a monthly article (for GovExec’s Route Fifty). Shark also hosts the bi-monthly podcast Sharkbytes.net.
Dr. Shark, before PTI, was president and CEO of the American Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA).
