Vice President of Operations - DCTV

Bio:

For over 30 years, Bob Thomas has served as an Executive in the Corporate, Non-Profit and Private Settings.

 
He currently serves as the Vice President of Operations for the Public Access Corporation of the District of Columbia (DCTV).  In this capacity, he is responsible for day-to-day operations, which include: Television Production & Operations, Programming, Broadcasting, Marketing (Website & Newsletter) Member Training, Youth Programs and Creative Services.
 
Prior to joining DCTV, Bob worked for the JCPenney Company for 24 years in the communications division. During his final years with JCPenney, Bob served as the Director of Facility & Communications Services, where he managed daily facility operations including administration of a $1 million operating budget and up to a $5 million capital budget.  He managed a staff of 50 and an additional team of a 50 contractors. In addition, he managed communications resources utilization nationally and oversaw allocation of $50 million in company resources.
 
His major success at JCPenney was launching Stonebrair Communications where he served as VP and General Manager. Stonebrair was a start up division that provided communications services to Corporate and Entertainment organizations.  In this capacity, Bob led the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies, contract negotiation, new business development, budget forecasting, and P&L management.  In addition, he generated sales in excess of $1 million and revenues of $800,000.  He also managed cross-functional teams that included creative, sales and marketing, and technical operations.
 
In addition, he owned his own communications company, the Harvey Communications Group. For 10 years he served as President & CEO where he consulted with senior level executives in the corporate, non-profit and entertainment sectors.  The company provided clients with expert advice on the development of communications, operational and technology strategies and solutions.

For 20 years Bob has served on numerous Boards including serving as Chairman of the Board of The Black Academy of Arts & Letters (Dallas), Dallas Community Television (DCTV) and President of the Communications Media Management Association (CMMA).
